This was either the second or third ad I ran in American Whitewater magazine.
The first ad I ran is still being searched for.
This was in the September/October 1998 issue.
Here is the story:
The picture was taken at the now closed shooting range that used to be located perhaps a maximum of 100ft away from the side of Hwy 64 along Parksville lake on the way to the Ocoee.
Its not me in the picture but a raft guide friend of mine that had the rifle and didn't mind burning 100's of rounds of ammo to get the shot. It took many tries of a quick barrage of (semi-auto) shots to capture the dirt flying up in the backstop.
The boat was a broken Pyranha borrowed from a Pyranha rep. friend that had probably no less than 20 broken boats under his porch.
"Plastic helps keep turkeys fresh longer" was a saying and bumper sticker way back in the day. It had fallen out of regular boater nomenclature so I revived it for my purposes.
The come.to/squirt website address is one that I used for many years because it was a free service that redirected to my lousy hosting site (was probably Tripod originally). At the time the internet was just getting going and domains cost way more than they do now to register. Many of the bigger companies in the country didn't have a website yet.
Do not go to the address now. It is some sort of adware site.
The street address was a house I was renting at the time that happened to have a nice workshop. A few people did send in two bucks for stickers.
