yes, we have lost favorite spots, sometimes for years at a time, only to re-discover them, sometimes even better than before! (Buffet is as good as it ever was, after multiple marginal seasons)

but sometimes they never come back, especially those formed by gravel bars (RIP Bender, Root Cellar)...
