we're good at cutting boats apart...some of us not as good at seaming them back together.....(help, Paul, rescue me...)
: ok- I'm about ready to roll up my sleeves (and get my arms all itchy) to begin some restoration work on my New Wave.
:
: I mostly just need to do some seam work (one 12" section is delaminated, but generally the seams are in decent shape. Cockpit rim is pitted and needs some TLC. I want to slap some glass on the very tips of the nose and stern, and then refinish the hull.
:
: Overall though the boat is in remarkable condition considering its unknown history (my friend bought it from some guy on CL who thought it would have been a good fishing boat (wtf?).
:
: ANYWAY- I don't need a ton of material. Some seam tape, a yard or two of glass cloth (S Glass, I presume), the resin/hardener w/ pumps and some black pigment ('cause I want those seams to look as pretty as they did when the boat was new.
:
: Shoulda Woulda Coulda- learned from the masters when I was growing up in the zone where it all began. Any in depth online resources to draw from so I don't have to repeatedly ask you all the same questions everyone else asks? I get the craftsman mindset, so I'm not worried about doing the work. I just haven't done much glass work. I get the general idea though. And can exercise great patience and fastidious detail.
:
: How about such a small amount of materials? Will Sweet Composites hook me up with such a small order? Or should I hit someone else up? Jim?
:
: And get ready PNW folks- I'm gonna hit yall up for some insights for sure! If you guys are gonna have any boat repair parties soon, let me know!! I'll bring some beer...
: :)
