The board is fully customizable for each user. If you are some kind of iPhone using weirdo that enjoys retina sizzling white backgrounds you are in luck. 
There are two themes available now and probably more will be added slowly over time as i install and try out new ones.
Follows is a picture tutorial on how to get to the setting. Dont forget to check on your other personal settings while you are in there and set things to your taste.
UPDATE:
automatic detection of mobile device added. If it doesn't automatically switch for you then just look for the link to quickly toggle between desktop and mobile device view.
Examples of the mobile layout are below. You can also choose these as the default in your user control panel.
